1974. As a small company with over
35 years of experience, we are dedicated to
providing our guests with the highest quality of service.
Rather than encouraging vertical records, our aim
is to offer a thrilling but comfortable skiing/boarding
adventure at a relaxed pace. Alpine skiers, telemark
skiers, snowboarders... everyone is welcome!
Throughout the operation, you will
find a friendly atmosphere and helpful staff to look
after you. Our entire team has a passion for the mountains. We enjoy what we do!
About the Owner
Since immigrating to Golden
from Switzerland 40 years ago, Rudi
Gertsch has been guiding visitors through the mountains of western Canada.
The first Swiss guides arrived
in Canada over 100 years ago, hired by the Canadian
Pacific Railroad to safely promote mountaineering
in the Rockies and Columbia Mountains.
As a mountain guide, Rudi
Gertsch and his business, Purcell Helicopter Skiing
Ltd. have prospered
in the former CPR base camp, taking skiers from all
over the world to the pristine summits and snow fields
of the Purcell Mountains.
Along with Rudi and his son Jeff,
the PHS guiding team is proud to continue the tradition
of mountain guiding that took roots in the area more
than a century ago.
